Pre-Embrace Festival Event

  • Marigold Cultural Centre 605 Prince Street Truro, NS, B2N 1G2 Canada (map)

Roger J. Lewis has been invited to come and speak to us, and the public, about the Mi’kmaq culture.  Mr. Lewis is currently the Curator of Ethnology with the Nova Scotia Museum, and specializes in pre-contact Mi’kmaq cultural landscape and resource use.  For the past number of years he has worked closely with Mi’kmaq communities to record their important ethnographic information and stories.   Mr. Lewis has a special appreciation of the relationship between Mi’kmaq artisan and the “living objects” they create.  “It is important to remember that the maker’s soul breathes within them, making them more than a simple craft.”
