With over 10 years of sold-out shows throughout Canada, The Woodhouse amazes audiences with their unique arrangements of holiday classics mixed with jazz, pop, and Latin. Described as a "little big band' with their quintet plus vocals configuration, they have collaborated with some of Canada's finest including Barbra Lica, Jennah Barry, and Order of Canada recipient Don Thompson. Their debut album, Home for Christmas, was nominated for Jazz Recording of the Year by Music Nova Scotia and has received regular rotation on CBC Radio and JazzFM.
This year they are thrilled to be joined by Nova Scotia vocalist and longtime friend Robyn Alcorn-Martin. An accomplished vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and educator, Robyn has studied at McGill, St.F.X., and Memorial University earning an Undergraduate and Masters Degree in Music. Outside of her full time teaching position, she also co-directs the New Glasgow New Horizons and is the Assistant Manager, as well as instructor, with Nova Scotia Honour Jazz.
The Woodhouse features: James Ervin (tpt), Nevin Dunn (sax), Matt Giffin (pno), Willem Paynter (bass), and Will Fisher (dr).
