Brenna Conrad, Andrew Morrisey and Rachel O’Brien are thrilled to bring this special show to the Marigold! All three are homegrown talents that have gained success in the music and theatre industries. This evening will be filled with songs spanning from classical to pop, folk to Broadway. Each singer will be performing an act, while Rachel plays for both. Please join this talented trio and celebrate some of the remarkable talent that Truro has produced!
Brenna Conrad is a professionally-trained Soprano with ten years of experience in Vocal Performance, Music Education and Music Ministry. A standout talent from a young age, Conrad honed her craft at University of Toronto’s prestigious vocal performance program and has been a regular performer at the Nova Scotia International Tattoo since she was a teenager. Subsequent to her education, she continued to perform both in Canada and Europe before embarking on a career as a choral conductor and music educator. Prior to moving back to Nova Scotia, she served as Choral Conductor and Youth Music Director at Islington United Church in Toronto while also teaching privately. Brenna is thrilled to be back in Nova Scotia and is currently the conductor for Cantabile Impact!, a mixed voice youth choir with a focus on bringing awareness to social justice issues, through music. She is also the Music Director at First Baptist Church, Truro and runs a thriving private vocal studio. Brenna is thrilled to be sharing her passion for music within her home province!
Andrew Morrisey currently lives in New York but proudly hails from Truro, NS. Andrew is an honors graduate of Sheridan College’s Music Theatre-Performance program and has attended the International Cabaret Conference at Yale University and Circle in the Square Theatre School in New York City. Select acting credits include Peter in The Daerie Queene (winner of Manhattan Repertory’s One Act Play Festival), Ryan Evans in High School Musical at Theatre Aquarius and Seymour Krelbourn in Little Shop of Horrors here at the Marigold! This Fall, he will playing a featured role in the new Off Broadway musical, Dead Serious. Andrew has performed solo cabarets at the Duplex and Shetler Studios in NYC, the Toronto Fringe Festival, as well as a successful 5 year run at the Glengarry in Truro. Andrew is also a sough after teacher who works at various voice and musical theater studios in the New York area. His students have won awards, gone on to study at top theater schools and have starred on Broadway and in regional productions. Andrew is beyond thrilled to be back home at the Marigold!
Rachel O'Brien is originally (and proudly) from Truro, Nova Scotia, Rachel O'Brien is a Maritime-based pianist and music director. Most recently she completed a season of over 100 performances in Charlottetown PEI as Music Director for Anne & Gilbert: The Musical. Her selected conducting credits include: Evita and Joseph... Dreamcoat for Blind Faith Productions, Disney's Mary Poppins for Theatre New Brunswick, and Legally Blonde: The Musical for Garnet & Gold. This year she has been fortunate to collaborate with artists in Brockville, Ontario (St. Lawrence College's production of The Wedding Singer), and Fredericton (TNB's production of Beauty and the Beast), as well as with students at UPEI, Holland College, and Charlottetown Rural High School. Rachel graduated proudly from Mount Allison University in May of 2017 with her Bachelor of Music, specializing in Piano. This summer she will be teaching musical theatre for Neptune Theatre School's summer camps and Young Company.
