Multi award winning siblings The Gilberts are a Nova Scotia folk trio bringing soulful lyrics, memorable melodies, close three part harmonies and Celtic, choral and contemporary influences to their performances and recordings.

‘Winterludes’ is their touring show featuring original music along with songs evoking the magic, majesty and melancholy of the winter season by artists including Joni Mitchell, Jimmy Rankin, Gordon Lightfoot, and Ron Sexsmith.

Frieden, Reuben and Maisie emigrated from the UK to Canada when they were knee-high to a grasshopper settling in rural Nova Scotia where one Christmas morning they found three ukuleles under the tree. It was the beginning of a musical journey that has already seen them garner East Coast Music, Canadian Folk Music, and Music Nova Scotia awards.

As siblings their signature three-part harmonies come naturally but with many musical influences including Simon & Garfunkel; Crosby Stills & Nash; Fleetwood Mac; The Beach Boys; and the Carpenters. Their other touring show ‘Harmonious’ includes songs by these great artists alongside original songs from The Gilberts.

They have performed at soft seat theatres across Nova Scotia and been featured artists at Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival; Full Circle Festival; Deep Roots Festival; Halifax Urban Folk Festival; and Evergreen Festival. Their music has been widely played on CBC, independent radio and across the United States and they have been featured on CBC Television, CTV and Global.

The Gilberts have been extensively involved in fundraisers for the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation; IWK Centre; Valley Regional Hospital Foundation; and Northwood Foundation.

They are grateful to the many music teachers in the public school system and other artists who have helped them on their way, and enjoy performing for schools, running workshops, and mentoring young musicians.
